If you had been running a business or shop half century ago the above title would no have meaning for you. Those days selling happened either happened purely on cash or credit basis, quite a simple way of life but at the same time limited turnover. Sixties and seventies saw a bloom in the credit card market and from the eighties the when this market reached the common people of the east there is virtually an explosion in this filed since then. The initially reluctant companies like Visa, MasterCard, American Express etc found a very long lasting market in credit card business and when they got down to business nobody could stop them. Or I should say almost everybody got credit cards.
